Last night Andye, Kit, Reagan, Bransen and their Nana went to see The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. The movie theater had a big boat in the lobby and gave out posters to everyone who came. With the rising cost of movie tickets, it isn't often that we all get out to see a movie, but this is one we were really looking forward to. Here's what we thought:
Andye says: This was my favorite Narnia book, so I was really excited to see it translated to film. I thought it was very well done. I would put it along the same lines of the other two Narnia films, although maybe not quite as good as the first. The actor that they chose for Eustace was PERFECT! He was such a good spoiled brat! haha! The only part of the film that I was disappointed in, was Eustace's transformation scene. C.S. Lewis put so much meaning into that scene, and it was only glanced over in the movie, so it was a little.....meh. I read the book a long time ago, so I don't remember it all, but it seemed to me like a lot of the action was cut out. Like when they went to the different islands to find the swords, they didn't really have to do anything, or fight anyone, they just found it and moved on. The end was pretty fantastic. I think it might have been really good in 3D, but we didn't spring for those tickets. There was a pretty intense, scary scene toward the end that lasted a long time, so be mindful with the really little ones! Overall, though it was a great movie, in my opinion. If I don't overanalyze the whole thing....it was really entertaining, and there were a couple of laugh out loud moments. It was great to see "Lucy" and "Edmund" again, but I guess this is their last trip to Narnia :(
The kids had to get to bed after the movie, so they couldn't give their opinion, but I know they loved it. Bransen kept telling me what was going to happen next. I'll have them write on here later! :)
For our giveaway, we have a Complete Chronicles of Narnia book. This has ALL of the books contained in it. (The Magician's Nephew, The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, The Horse and his Boy, Prince Caspian, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, The Silver Chair, and The Last Battle) We'll also put in the movie poster, (it will be folded because I'm not going to ship it extra...haha)
